In my opinion, the whole thing was made up. I mean, sure, Stephen did have cancer, and yes, they did have to move to Connecticut because of it, however, Stephen was the one to see the things and that is how it started. And, let’s not forget to mention that, he was schizophrenic. That’s why he saw/heard the things he did in the house. The others did not believe him, nor did they see/hear anything until the land lord was going to kick them out because they could not pay the rent…then, all of a sudden, the house was haunted! I mean, they needed money. And, seriously, why not leave the house if it was haunted and they were being raped and sodomized? Sure, they had no money, but they didn’t have the money to pay the rent for this house, either…so what would be the difference except for the fact that they wouldn’t be haunted anymore??? Besides, from what I hear, Ray did get to talk to Stephen on the phone and ask him a few questions, but only for a moment, and Stephen told him that everything stopped once he was medicated. After that, Carmen took the phone away and ended the conversation.

Well, events like this sometimes happen. Although, it’s easier to believe the skeptics. But we need remember nobody was in that downstairs apartment but the Snedekers. As for Ray Garton, the story he tells is pretty fishy. He said the family never seemed too sure about the boys cancer and never named what type it was. This doesn’t mesh with the 1988 newspaper articles that stated the boy had Hodgkin’s Disease. Ray’s claim about inconsistent accounts cannot be proven, and he admits to throwing out the tape recorded conversations and written notes. If you wanted people to believe your side of the story, why the hell would you trash the evidence?

yes the story is bit of a strech but thats only if you watch the movie first and not to read the book on the family’s story, because alot of events in the movie didn’t happen.But in the movie it said the house was rebilt after the fire so that explains the great condition of the house.The house might have a history but thats all in the past now. People shouldn’t be visiting this house. Its pointless. I feel bad for this family people parading the house like its J.C.

i think its all fake because im a christain n in the bible it says the dead is the dead i think the Snedeker family the people who claimed 2 hear,see,feel ghost where just trying 2 get money or show how phsyco they where i saw the movie n read reveiws n stuff n i stil have wonders but in the end i noe jesus christ was the only 1 who died n rose again

I just watched the movie…it was a pretty decent horror flick….a couple of new horror elements (people who are dying ie. cancer or whatnot, can see ghosts due to their closeness to death). But I really doubt the whole “True Story” claim…Was there even a fire at this home in which the son and mother almost burned? I’m looking on google maps right now at the house…and it seems just like any other home. I’m leaning towards a dysfunctional family who took advantage of a house’s history to either make money, or explain their messed up ways.
