Serial killer snowman Jack Frost is back & more pissed off than before. This time he tracks Sheriff Tiler to the Caribbean of all places to seek revenge.
Our story opens with the good sheriff in counseling. As he recounts the tale of Frost’s killing ways, the psychiatrist, his receptionist & some others have a good laugh. If you’ve seen the first movie, then you know about the experiment that created the killer snowman. This is continued as some scientists recover the remains of J.F. & proceed to examine it. Meanwhile the sheriff, his wife & another couple decide to spend Christmas in the Caribbean at a resort. Frost wastes no time as he’s off to the island, killing along the way. Once there, he targets 3 sisters on vacation for the first time sans parents.
Jack takes on many different forms to achieve some clever kills this time around. We get
a snowball fight in which Jack easily picks off a few victims, using not only snowballs, but his patented icicle cannon/hands. A transformation into an ice anvil and even the ice that gets put into a refreshing drink, killing the victim from within. Tiler teams up with island security- a holdover character from the first movie- and armed with super-soakers filled with the snowman proven stopper anti-freeze, go after the killer. What they find though, is that ol’ Frosty isn’t susceptible to the ant-freeze this time. There’s also the added menace of his offspring, which come about after Jack takes a dip in the green pool. Bloodthirsty bastards they are, too. The movie then takes on a sort of “Gremlins” vibe as we see the little ‘balls living it up.
Soon Mrs. Tiler needs to take over as the savior as her husband goes a little off his rocker. The team needs to find the right recipe for destruction before the supply ship arrives and the chilluns board it and head for home. But what about poppa Jack? He’s still out there. Can the crew find them all and destroy them before it’s too late?
This movie is much bloodier than the first, yet again the humor escapes me. Horror comedy done right is not an easy thing to achieve. Still this is a worthy sequel and if you liked the first, I’m sure you’ll like this. Oh, and be sure to stick around & watch the end credits as there’s a nice little ode to one of the greatest movie monsters of all time. Now that’s funny.
